Addressing participants at the 2007 India Today Conclave on Saturday before her departure for Dubai, Bhutto also called for the restoration of democracy in Pakistan, saying that it is the need of the hour to ensure the success of the India-Pakistan peace process.
Stating that Kashmir is a "solvable problem, and that it should not come in the way of bilateral ties in other areas like trade, travel and people-to-people contacts, Bhutto said if and when she comes to power she would ensure that the military returns to the barracks and there is civilian control.
Bhutto urged India and Pakistan to end what she called a destructive chapter in their relationship and proposed that both ountries hold a peace summit in August to mark their 60th Independence Day.
